Here is how an HS-20 was recently repaired/rebuilt.

The entire unit was cleaned, repaired water leak in cooling coil, repaired vacuum leak in oil line to sight glass, repaired stack assembly to adapt to the

new cold cap. System was 100% helium leak tested and water lines were also pressure tested.

The unit was also sandblasted and painted with high temp silver (1000F). The heaters were tested, and the thermal switches were tested. The unit is ready to returned to owner.

When Rebuilding a mechanical vacuum Pump

The work consist of draining the oil, disassembly and inspection for damage or wear of all internal parts. The customer is then notified the total cost of rebuilding the pump.

After approval we will replace all worn parts and all bearings. clean oil reservoir, Clean by blasting & washing the piston, slider, etc. Clean the housing, end plates as required. Then the internal pump parts are reassembled. Next comes replacement of all o-rings, shaft seals, the valve discs, valve springs, valve deck gaskets, separator gaskets and oil reservoir cover gasket. We will install a new charge of oil; the pumps will be run and checked for proper operation, painted and made ready for return shipment.

This process is basically the same for all large mechanical vacuum pumps like Stokes, Kinney, etc.

The smaller direct drive vacuum pumps often are the neglected ones. They usually are out of sight and run much quieter. They run hotter, use less oil that is not changed enough. They have to be inspected for End plates, housing, rotors and bearing surface damage. The clearances are critical. Often machining is required, Bushings replaced, rotors replaced as well as vanes

And including a standard repair kit. Reassembly, testing and painting will be completed after the customer approval.

When Rebuilding a Blower, The work will consist of draining the oil, cleaning, disassembly and quoted. Upon your approval, replacement of all bearings, replacing the shaft seal, inspect all parts for damage or wear, replace when necessary, check timing of the blower and install a new charge of oil. The blower will be run and checked for proper operation, painted and made ready for return shipment.
